防護(hù)服不僅要排濕透氣、穿著自如，還要讓醫(yī)護(hù)人員免受診療過程中病毒、細(xì)菌等各種污染物的感染，抵擋住水液、酒精、油漬侵入，而且要有效抗靜電，甚防止灰塵進(jìn)入。

值得注意的是，防護(hù)服材料的幾種性能有嚴(yán)格標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，包括防護(hù)性（密封性）、服用性、衛(wèi)生性。其中防護(hù)性要求具有液體阻隔功能，防護(hù)服關(guān)鍵部位（左右前襟、左右臂及背部位置）帶著抗?jié)B水性，可耐靜水壓不低于1.67千帕（kPa）；抗合成血液穿透性不低于2級(jí)，即合成血液以1.75千帕的壓強(qiáng)作用于防護(hù)服上，5分鐘后不得穿透；同時(shí)，防護(hù)服外側(cè)面沾水等級(jí)不低于3級(jí)。此外，還要防微顆粒物穿透，關(guān)鍵部位及接縫處對(duì)非油性顆粒物的過濾效率不低于70%。

對(duì)于服用性要求，防護(hù)服要有足夠強(qiáng)度和尺寸穩(wěn)定性，進(jìn)行拉伸試驗(yàn)時(shí)，斷裂強(qiáng)力不低于45牛，斷裂伸長(zhǎng)率不低于30%；穿著舒適性方面，防護(hù)服材料具有透濕量要求。而衛(wèi)生性則要求自身，無皮膚刺激性，抗霉菌滋生。
